Preferential Parking
The Los Angeles Department of
Transportation implements and enforces Preferential Parking
Districts in residential areas where employees and customers
of nearby businesses and attractions regularly park for long
periods of times making it difficult for residents to find
parking. Preferential Parking Districts restrict parking for
all motorists, but area residents and their guests are exempt
from the special parking restrictions if they purchase and
display Preferential Parking Permits.
Preferential Parking Permits only exempt the vehicle displaying
the permit from the parking restrictions on the preferential
parking district signs. Permittees must still obey all other
parking restrictions (such as red curb zones or street cleaning
restrictions).

of utility property or facilities or engaged in authorized
work in the designated Preferential Parking District.
- A vehicle identified as owned
