Pedestrian Advisory Committee
The Pedestrian Advisory
Committee (PAC) includes a public member that represents each
council district (resident, business owner, property owner,
or any interested party); a member of the staff of each council
district office; a representative of the city departments engaged
in pedestrian-related activities including, but not limited
to: the Departments of Transportation and City Planning, Bureaus
of Engineering, Street Services and Street Lighting, Police
Department, and the Community Redevelopment Agency: non-city
agencies including: Los Angeles Unified School District, Los
Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Caltrans, Los
Angeles County Department of Public Health and Department of
Public Works, AAA and Safe Moves.

Our
Mission: Promote a safe pedestrian environment and to
encourage walking as a mode of choice in the City of
Los Angeles. The intent of pursuing this mission is
to accomplish the following:

- Promote the safe behavior of pedestrians and improve
motorists’ attitude towards pedestrian safety
- Identify and implement measures to improve the
safety of pedestrians
- Identify environments most vulnerable to traffic
collisions involving pedestrians
- Improve pedestrian facilities
- Create an environment conductive to pedestrian
activity

The PAC provides: |

| |
|
- Advice on educating the general public, school
officials and other organizations regarding pedestrian
related issues
- Community input and feedback on plans and programs
which impact pedestrian safety and mobility within
the LADOT jurisdiction
- Identify opportunities for making safety improvements
- Recommend solutions to problems
- Provide advice where requested in pedestrian elements
of transportation and land use plans

How to Join
Members of the general public are encouraged
to join the PAC. If you would like to represent your Council
Member, please contact them in writing of your interest in
joining the Pedestrian Advisory Committee as their representative.
If approved, the Council Member will appoint you by writing
an official letter to the General Manger of the Department
of Transportation with a copy to the Chair of the Pedestrian
Advisory Committee.
Pedestrian Advisory Committee Meetings
WHEN:
Every other month on the third Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: 100 South Main Street, 9th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90012
(LADOT Office in the Caltrans Building in Downtown Los Angeles, on the southwest corner of 1st Street and Main Street.)
