City of Los Angeles
Bicycle Advisory Committee
The City established
the Los Angeles Bicycle Advisory Committee in 1974 under then
Mayor Tom Bradley. The Committee was charged with addressing
bicycling concerns in the City of Los Angeles.
Today, the Bicycle Advisory
Committee advises the City’s Department of Transportation
and Department of Planning on bicycling issues relevant to
transportation. Committee members also work with these City
departments to better implement the City’s
Bicycle Plan.
The Bicycle Advisory Committee also
partners with the Department of Recreation and Parks to develop
more recreational bicycling opportunities.
Each Council District and the Mayor’s Office appoint
members
to the committee.
Full Bicycle Advisory Committee meetings are held at 7 p.m.
on the first Tuesday of every other month: February, April,
June, August, October and December.
Subcommittees meet in the alternative months: January, March,
May, July, September and November. Established subcommittees
discuss: Advocacy and Education, Bikeway Engineering and Planning.
The meetings are held in the Board Room of the Department
of Water and Power, at 111 N. Hope St., Los Angeles, California
90012.
