Commissioners
The seven-member Los Angeles Board of Transportation
Commissioners advises the General Manager of the Department
of Transportation on transportation issues.
Members serve on the Commission for two, three or five
year terms. LADOT is proud to recognize its current Commissioners.
George E. Moss, President of the Board, has been involved in the development
of more than 100 Southern California construction projects.
In his years of civic service, Moss has received various
commendations and awards from the Mayor, City Council, State
Assembly and other agencies.
Commissioner Andrea A. Alarcón acts as a liaison
to California Attorney General Bill Lockyer on matters relating
to violence against women, health care, labor, school safety
and other issues. She created Lockyer’s Anti-Gang
Violence Initiative.
Commissioner D. Malcolm Carson is a staff attorney with
the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. In this capacity,
Carson works to improve the quality of life for residents
of low-income communities.
Commissioner John W. Frierson has held positions in the
Los Angeles Police Department, County Sheriff’s Office
and former Councilmember Nate Holden’s office. He
served as the Deputy Director of Community Relations for
the 2000 Democratic National Convention.
